A French economic overhaul? Economy minister faces uphill battle in bid to reform

The man in charge, Emmanuel Macron, owes his position to the anger of his predecessor at the austerity imposed by Brussels; he is now trying to get France on track to meet EU deficit targets through reform. On Wednesday the former banker Emmanuel Macron will outline his plan. Among the reforms are more Sunday trading for shops, opening up national bus routes and throwing open traditionally closed professions.
